Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients transferring from the operating room, monitor vital signs and level of consciousness, and administer prescribed medications per post-anesthesia techniques. Respond promptly to emergency situations utilizing PACU nursing standards, accurately document assessments and interventions in medical records, and collaborate with the surgical team to ensure continuity of care. Operate PACU-specific equipment including ventilators and infusion pumps while developing individualized patient and family education plans. Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs during the critical recovery period.
Required Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as a PACU RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification
- ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
- Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
- Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
- Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
- Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure
- Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel
- Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
- Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate
Desired Qualifications
- PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certifications
