Job Summary
Assess post-anesthesia patients transferring from the operating room, monitor vital signs and recovery levels, and administer prescribed medications per approved techniques. Document all assessments, interventions, and significant incidents while responding promptly to emergency situations using established PACU protocols. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure continuity of care during handoffs and deliver individualized discharge instructions to patients and families. Operate PACU-specific equipment including ventilators and infusion pumps, maintaining awareness of patient comfort and safety throughout the 13-week assignment in Nantucket.
Required Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as a PACU RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification
- ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
- Critical thinking
- Service excellence
- Good interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
- Ability to read/comprehend written instructions
- Follow verbal instructions
- Proficiency in PC skills
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position
