Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients transferring from the operating room and monitor vital signs, level of consciousness, and recovery from anesthesia. Administer prescribed medications and treatments, operate PACU-specific equipment such as ventilators and infusion pumps, and respond promptly to emergency situations using established protocols. Accurately document patient conditions, interventions, and recovery progress in medical records while collaborating with the surgical team to ensure continuity of care between the OR, PACU, and post-PACU units. Develop individualized patient and family education plans, including detailed discharge instructions. Provide specialized care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery in a 13-week travel assignment in Asheville, North Carolina.
Required Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as a PACU RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification
- ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
- Critical thinking
- Service excellence
- Good interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
- Ability to read/comprehend written instructions
- Follow verbal instructions
- Proficiency in PC skills
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position
