Job Summary
Assess patients transferring from the operating room, monitor vital signs and recovery from anesthesia, and administer prescribed medications per approved techniques. Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs, observe and document conditions and treatments, and respond promptly to emergency situations using PACU nursing standards. Accurately document assessments, interventions, and progress in medical records while developing individualized education plans for patients and families. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure comprehensive post-operative care and participate in patient handoff communications to maintain continuity between units. Operate PACU-specific equipment such as ventilators and infusion pumps, performing other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
Required Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as a PACU RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification
- ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
- Critical thinking
- Service excellence
- Good interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
- Ability to read/comprehend written instructions
- Follow verbal instructions
- Proficiency in PC skills
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position
