Job Summary
Educate patients and families about oncology procedures and treatments, administering prescribed medications and managing side effects. Prepare equipment for examinations, monitor patient comfort and safety, and assess reactions to interventions. Maintain detailed documentation of assessments and outcomes, respond to life-saving situations per protocol, and develop individualized education plans for self-care strategies. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered care while participating in quality improvement initiatives. This 13-week travel assignment in Des Moines, Iowa, offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits for an RN with one year of oncology experience.
Required Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as an Oncology RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
- Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
- Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
- Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
- Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure
- Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel
- Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
- Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate
Desired Qualifications
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification
- ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
