Job Summary
The Oncology Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to cancer patients in hospital and clinical settings, administering cancer treatments, managing side effects, educating patients and families, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while adhering to confidentiality, integrity, and safety standards. Responsibilities include administering prescribed oncology medications, preparing oncology equipment, monitoring patient comfort and adverse effects, documenting patient conditions, responding to life-threatening events, educating patients/families on treatment plans and self-care, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and advocating for patients throughout complex treatment regimens. Strong critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as an Oncology RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Desired Qualifications
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification
- ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
- Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
