Job Summary
Perform patient assessments, administer medications, and provide wound care for individuals in residence while maintaining medical records in the electronic health record system. Take vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and weight, and observe patient health and mental health status. Respond to emergencies with emergency first aid and provide patient education and discharge planning. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements. This role requires standing for long periods and lifting patients up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Actively state-certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a compact license
- Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods
- Must have the ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Must have the ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
