Job Summary
Administer the nursing program in a long-term care facility to maintain standards of resident care and optimize the geriatric care process. Monitor nursing staff operations, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and conduct employee performance reviews while scheduling personnel. Provide nursing care to residents as needed and advise medical staff, department heads, and administrators on nursing service strategies. Manage day-to-day operations including environmental safety, budget constraints, and regulatory compliance across assignments in CO, IA, KS, MN, ND, NE, and SD. Requires frequent travel; average assignment length is 9-13 weeks. This interim leadership role supports Sanford Health's mission to transform the health care experience in America's heartland.
Required Qualifications
- Five years nursing experience
- Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state
- Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications
- Requires frequent travel to facilities
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred, but not required
- Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA)
- Housing with Services, housing and urban development (HUD), and/or assisted living experience also helpful
- Thorough knowledge of the nursing practice act and standards of nursing care
- A working knowledge of administrative and management techniques
