Job Summary
Assess and monitor critically ill patients, recognizing and responding to subtle changes in patient condition. Administer complex medications and treatments, operate advanced life support equipment, and perform hemodynamic monitoring including arterial lines and central venous pressure. Document all interventions and patient responses in the medical record while communicating closely with interdisciplinary teams. Provide education to patients and families regarding treatments and recovery expectations. Adhere to strict infection control protocols and participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes. This 13-week travel assignment in Birmingham, Alabama requires one year of ICU experience, valid RN license, and current BLS and ACLS certifications.
Required Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as an ICU RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification
- Current ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position
- Must be able to move about
- Must be able to move equipment (50-100lbs)
- Must be able to push
- Must be able to pull
- Must be able to bend
- Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary)
- Must be able to present a positive attitude and professionalism
- Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers
- Must be able to meet deadlines under pressure
- Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally
- Must be able to work without assistance from other personnel
- Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally
- Must be able to maintain continuous concentration to detail
- Must possess visual acuity
- Must be able to effectively communicate
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
- Ability to read/comprehend written instructions
- Ability to follow verbal instructions
- Proficiency in PC skills
Desired Qualifications
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification
- TNCC certification
- NIHSS certification
