Job Summary
Assess and triage patients upon arrival, prioritize care based on severity, and administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with emergency nursing protocols. Monitor vital signs, document comprehensive nursing assessments and interventions in electronic medical records, and respond to life-saving situations based on established standards. Prepare equipment for physicians during emergency treatments, explain procedures to patients and families, and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, specialists, and social workers. Maintain patient comfort and safety throughout their time in the emergency department while adhering to infection control guidelines and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as an ER RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- Current PALS (AHA / ARC) or ENPC Certification
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
- Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
- Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
- Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure
- Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel
- Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
- Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
- Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
