Job Summary
Provide direct and indirect nursing care to assigned patients while assisting in monitoring and supporting them throughout the surgical procedure. Collaborate with the entire surgical team to optimize patient outcomes by confirming sterile supplies and equipment, assisting with safe patient positioning and draping, and coordinating immediate post-surgical care. Maintain proficiency in Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including open and closed heart surgeries, and ensure sterile protocols are followed throughout the course of surgery. Actively participate in Universal Protocol and timeout to confirm patient identity, procedure, and surgical site, and respond effectively to emergencies such as cardiac arrest. Handle and document specimens accurately, assess nursing care before, during, and after the procedure, and perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
Required Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as a CVOR RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS (AHA/ ARC) certification
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
- Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
- Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
- Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure
- Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel
- Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
- Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
- Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
Desired Qualifications
- ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
