Job Summary
Travel Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) – Generalist on a 13-week assignment in Detroit, MI. The CLS is responsible for performing and overseeing a wide range of laboratory tests across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and blood banking, ensuring accuracy and reliability of diagnostic results. Responsibilities include supervising test results, troubleshooting discrepancies, calibrating and maintaining instruments, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (AABB, CAP, CLIA, FDA). The role also involves developing and implementing laboratory policies and quality assurance programs, training and mentoring staff, supervising lab personnel, communicating critical results to physicians, investigating transfusion reactions, and making technical decisions regarding specimens and protocol modifications. Required qualifications include one year of CLS experience and a valid license where applicable; preferred qualifications include MLS certification (ASCP or equivalent) and current BLS. Required Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)
- Valid license when needed in compliance with any state regulations
- Preferred Qualifications: National certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by ASCP or equivalent such as AMT, AAB, HEW certifications
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position
