Job Summary
Assess, diagnose, and surgically treat patients with traumatic injuries, including blunt force and penetrating trauma. Perform emergency surgeries such as exploratory laparotomies, thoracotomies, and vascular repairs while stabilizing critically injured patients in the emergency department. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes, manage postoperative care, and lead resuscitation efforts during trauma team activations. Maintain accurate medical records and train medical students, residents, and fellows in trauma and acute care surgery. Contribute to trauma system development, quality improvement initiatives, and research. Requires on-call responsibilities including nights, weekends, and holidays, with exposure to high-stress situations.
Required Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
- Completion of a General Surgery residency program and a Trauma/Critical Care Surgery fellowship
- Board certification or eligibility in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care
- Valid medical license to practice in the state of employment
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification required
- Requires on-call responsibilities, including nights, weekends, and holidays
