Job Summary
Assign diagnostic and procedural codes to the trauma patient population by abstracting data from patient charts accurately and timely. Follow all policies and procedures associated with coding classification schemes to ensure minimal variances. Assist with the American College of Surgeons accreditation/site survey process by compiling, preparing, and presenting data. Support research efforts of the Division of Trauma, participate in data validation and report generation, and assist in creating the Institutional Data Dictionary. Train new employees and oversee monthly registrar education. Requires per diem status with hourly rates between $25.00 and $42.50.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Trauma registrar, or similar health-related experience such as a RN, EMT, CNA, medical coder, HIM, etc.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Medical Terminology Course or Equivalent Experience
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in Trauma, chart auditing, AAAM Coding, ICD9 & 10 codes, medical procedure coding
