Job Summary
Collect, compile, and maintain the statistical database of trauma patients admitted to the health system, including the North Carolina and National Trauma Registries. Identify daily admissions, complete data collection sheets, and validate accuracy through state-mandated studies. Initiate registry information covering demographics, injuries, and complications, while participating in State Registry meetings and trauma research. Design data collection forms, prepare evaluation reports, and safeguard registry document confidentiality. Work a variable full-time shift at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent organizational skills
- Basic computer skills
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity
- Ability to sit and stand for long periods
- Ability to bend and lift using good body mechanics
- Ability to hear and express verbally and in writing
Desired Qualifications
- Medical terminology and coding certification
- 1 year chart review experiences for QI, UR or coding
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Familiarity with ICD-10-CM and ISS codes
- Knowledgeable of the physiological, psychosocial and spiritual needs of the patients typically served
