Job Summary
Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for trauma and acute surgery patients, including motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, and traumatic amputations. Educate patients and families on illness management, post-treatment home care, and medication administration while promoting patient safety and regulatory compliance. Develop and document individual plans of care in collaboration with the interprofessional team, ensuring communication across the continuum of care. Utilize critical nursing skills to assess physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, respecting patient values and cultural preferences. This safety-sensitive role requires constant alertness and is part of Barnes-Jewish Hospital's busiest Level I Trauma Center, offering a supportive environment with a Nurse Residency Program for new graduates.
