Job Summary
Assist the driver in staging and dumping carts, bins, and bulky items while guiding vehicle maneuvers to prioritize public safety. Learn the assigned route geography to ensure proper sequencing and utilize in-cab electronic systems to follow service requirements. Clean spills and overflows, returning bins to their proper areas, and use radio communication to coordinate with dispatch and supervisors. Report accidents, injuries, or maintenance issues promptly and comply with hazardous waste handling regulations. Maintain a positive relationship with coworkers and customers while participating in company-wide trainings. This role supports timely, efficient, and safe hauling service for Universal Waste Systems, Inc.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of principles of waste and recycling collection
- Basic truck mechanics and parts
- Federal, state and local job site health and safety rules, regulations and best practices
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude with coworkers and customers
- Ability to proactively establish trust and credibility with coworkers by maintaining accountability
- Ability to contribute to the team dynamic by promoting inclusion, support and collaboration amongst coworkers
- Ability to take initiative, self-manage time and productivity through multitasking
- Ability to effectively and concisely communicate both orally and in writing
- Ability to think independently and creatively to problem solve
- Ability to read and utilize on-board electronic routing system
- Experience in the resource recovery industry preferred
- High school diploma or GED preferred
