Job Summary
Transport patients and visitors within the hospital setting, coordinating with nurses, radiology, desk staff, and other care team members. Responsibilities include safe transport of patients using various motorized equipment, verifying patient identification, performing handoffs, inputting transport requests via computer/dispatch, disinfecting equipment after use, and assisting with transfers using slider boards. The role involves significant physical activity (standing/walking 10-12 miles per 8-hour shift; pushing/pulling up to 350 lbs; possible oxygen/equipment needs). Requires adherence to infection control (PPE, isolation protocols) and collaboration with care teams. Training minimum: 80 hours on-the-job. Location: Rochester, MN. Working hours may include days, evenings, overnights, holidays, and weekends with rotating days off.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 80 hours of on-the-job training
- Direct patient contact and interaction with nurses, radiology techs, desk staff, door attendants
- Transport patients, visitors, and patient-related items safely and efficiently
- Provide detailed verbal communication during handoff to care team members
- Operate multiple types of motorized patient transport equipment
- Disinfect equipment after each patient use
- Perform wheelchair roundups and transfers using slider boards/sliders
- Monitor patient condition during transport and respond to changes
- Adhere to PPE, isolation precautions, and Epic data entry
- Possible days/evenings/overnights/holidays/weekends with rotating days off
