Job Summary
Conduct road repair, culvert replacement, and winter plowing operations to maintain safety on Maine state roadways, bridges, and highways. Perform seasonal tasks including summer maintenance and winter snow removal, adapting daily duties to changing weather conditions. Operate at higher classes as necessary in accordance with required licenses and certifications, including obtaining and retaining a valid Class B State of Maine license during the initial six-month probationary period.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- State-paid Medical examination that includes: a drug test
- Department's Respirator fit test
- Class C State of Maine license by first day of employment
- Shall obtain and retain a valid Class B State of Maine license during the initial six-month probationary period
- Ability to become a certified snow fighter within 12 months
- Ability to obtain flagger certification within a specified amount of time
- Under federal law, only U.S. Citizens, Permanent Residents, or H-2A, H-2B, or E-2 visa holders will be eligible for new or renewed CDLs
