Job Summary

Conduct road repair, culvert replacement, and winter plowing operations across Maine state roadways, bridges, and highways. Operate heavy equipment and perform maintenance tasks in all weather conditions to ensure public safety. Obtain and maintain valid Class B and Class C State of Maine licenses by the first day of employment and complete required respirator fit tests and medical examinations. Work seasonal rotations that include summer infrastructure projects and winter snow removal, adhering to federal licensing requirements for U.S. citizens and eligible visa holders.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • State-paid Medical examination that includes: a drug test
  • Department's Respirator fit test
  • Class C State of Maine license by first day of employment
  • Shall obtain and retain a valid Class B State of Maine license during the initial six-month probationary period
  • Ability to become a certified snow fighter within 12 months
  • Ability to obtain flagger certification within a specified amount of time
  • Under federal law, only U.S. Citizens, Permanent Residents, or H-2A, H-2B, or E-2 visa holders will be eligible for new or renewed CDLs
