Job Summary
Conduct road repair, culvert replacement, and winter plowing operations to maintain state roadways and bridges. Perform flagger duties and operate heavy equipment as required, adapting daily tasks to seasonal weather conditions. Obtain and maintain valid Class B and C State of Maine licenses, completing medical examinations, respirator fit tests, and snow fighter certification within specified timelines. Work long hours in all weather types across Southern Maine, with salary starting at $21.37 per hour and access to paid Commercial Driving and Snowfighter training.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- State-paid Medical examination that includes: a drug test
- Department's Respirator fit test
- Class C State of Maine license by first day of employment
- Shall obtain and retain a valid Class B State of Maine license during the initial six-month probationary period
- Ability to become a certified snow fighter within 12 months
- Ability to obtain flagger certification within a specified amount of time
- Under federal law, only U.S. Citizens, Permanent Residents, or H-2A, H-2B, or E-2 visa holders will be eligible for new or renewed CDLs
