Transportation Supervisor

Job Summary

Manage assigned dispatch coordinators to plan, execute, and monitor driver/equipment movements while implementing customer routes and schedules. Coordinate dispatchers for efficient data entry into transportation software and ensure the database is updated with customer, EDI, carrier, and vehicle information. Supervise Transportation Coordinators by planning work, appraising performance, and addressing complaints, while ensuring all department forms are completed and DOT compliance is maintained. Report accidents and safety incidents to the Human Resource, Driver Supervisor, and Safety Department. Monitor KPIs and productivity goals established by the SCM Dispatch Manager and follow ISO-9001 Quality certification standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or a related field
  • Minimum of ten years in a dispatch or load planning position
  • Supervisory experience in a fleet size or driver size of 50 or more
  • Experience utilizing a specialized transportation software
  • Previous experience in a transportation supervisor position
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good communication skills both written and oral
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent personal computer skills
  • Working knowledge of a transportation software i.e. : TMW, McCloud, Peoplenet, Rand McNally, PCMiler etc.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products software i.e.; Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Knowledge of Transportation fleet models
  • Extensive knowledge in Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and CTPAT
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to communicate effectively using the telephone, Fax, E-mail etc.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Current driver's license
