Job Summary
Manage the daily work of assigned dispatch coordinators to plan, execute, and monitor driver/equipment movements while implementing customer routes and schedules. Coordinate dispatchers for efficient data entry into transportation software and ensure accurate updates of customer, EDI, and carrier information. Supervise Transportation Coordinators by planning work, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and assisting with hiring and training. Ensure all accident reports are filed with Human Resources and the Safety Department, and verify that dispatchers complete required forms and adhere to DOT compliance and ISO-9001 standards. Monitor KPIs and productivity goals, while managing outside carriers and communicating essential pickup and delivery details to customers and drivers.
Required Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or a related field
- Minimum of ten years in a dispatch or load planning position
- Supervisory experience in a fleet size or driver size of 50 or more
- Experience utilizing a specialized transportation software
- Previous experience in a transportation supervisor position
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Good communication skills both written and oral
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent personal computer skills
- Working knowledge of a transportation software (TMW, McCloud, Peoplenet, Rand McNally, PCMiler)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products software (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Knowledge of Transportation fleet models
- Extensive knowledge in Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and CTPAT
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to communicate effectively using the telephone, Fax, E-mail
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
- Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Current driver's license
- Ability to stand
