Transportation Supervisor

Job Summary

Supervise day-to-day transportation department activities including dispatching, routing, product security, and equipment maintenance. Assign work to associates, update driver schedules, and coordinate delivery changes through routing software to maximize resources and ensure efficient routes. Monitor driver schedules for DOT compliance, oversee fleet on-board computers and log reports, and lead pre-shift meetings to reinforce safety and procedures. Review incoming paperwork, approve hours reporting, and manage department staffing, training, and performance goals. Ensure compliance with FMCSA regulations, address customer concerns, and maintain a clean, safe work environment while reporting equipment issues and injuries.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED
  • Three years of combined transportation and/or supply chain operations experience
  • Knowledge/experience within transportation
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organization, prioritization, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to multi-task and have good follow through to meet deadlines
  • Good leadership and training skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on business needs
  • Availability/on call during evenings or weekends
  • Knowledge of transportation/logistics activities such as FMCSA/CSA compliance, DOT requirements, dispatching, backhauls, contract carriers, local regulations, etc.
  • Knowledge of transportation on-boarding software
  • Proficiency with computers to include MS Office (Excel and Word)
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds with assistance as needed
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, days and night hours
  • Ability to work in 8-10 hour shifts as assigned
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with changes in temperature and humidity
  • Ability to work in moderate to high noise levels
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary and as assigned

Desired Qualifications

  • One year of supervisory or lead experience
  • Experience with Cadec
  • Knowledge of dispatch software (CAMS, etc.)
  • Knowledge of routing software (JDA)
