Job Summary

Oversee daily transportation operations by managing a team of drivers, dispatchers, and warehouse staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations. Ensure fleet vehicles remain in excellent condition through coordinated maintenance and conduct regular safety meetings and inspections. Plan and optimize driver routes to address on-road challenges while supporting retail stores with pickup and delivery schedules. Complete necessary pickup routes as needed and maintain adherence to all safety protocols and regulations. Maintain excellent communication with donors, retail stores, and coworkers while representing the organization's mission.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass a motor vehicle records check
  • Ability to operate a box truck in a safe and efficient manner
  • Knowledge of traffic laws and regulations related to driving a large commercial vehicle
  • Ability to work independently
  • Flexibility in schedule to accommodate changes in pickup routes or schedules
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and carry it for short distances
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, climb, and bend for extended periods of time
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery, including box trucks and compactors
  • Visual acuity to read road signs, maps, and operating instructions
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for operating truck controls and handling bags and boxes
  • Strong back and abdominal muscles to maintain proper posture while operating equipment and lifting heavy objects
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow
  • Good hearing to detect warning signals and communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment health screening and motor vehicles record check
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and busy environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a noisy environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a bright environment
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • High degree of flexibility
  • Ability to switch tasks based on operational needs

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with systems overseeing routing, tracking, and the management of trailers and fleet maintenance
  • Fundamental knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
