Job Summary
Supervise a team of transport drivers to deliver product to distribution centers safely and efficiently. Provide local interface for dedicated carriers on issues and improvement projects, while assuming ownership of financial forecasts and analysis for the transportation cost center. Support market unit facilities by identifying productivity and cost improvement targets, planning resource requirements, and reducing wait times. Develop relationships with internal customers including sales, logistics, and plant facilities. Assist with proper utilization of transportation tools such as rate and route guides, and resolve outstanding freight bills. Maintain equipment appearance and safety standards by instructing employees on proper procedures, directing corrections of unsafe conditions, and eliminating avoidable accidents. Work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of related field and/or a bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of DOT (Department Of Transportation) regulations
- Transportation experience dealing with legal, regulatory and operational issues, including customer service, logistics and carrier operations
- A minimum of 2 years' experience managing front-line employees
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends
- Strong communication skills
