Job Summary
Assist in the design and development of transportation projects including roadways, intersections, pedestrian facilities, and traffic improvements. Prepare engineering drawings, plans, and 3D models using CAD software, perform basic to intermediate engineering calculations, and support preparation of project documents such as cost estimates and bid packages. Conduct field visits for data collection and condition assessments, collaborate with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project quality, and prepare submittals for IDOT, LPA, or municipal agencies. Review topographic surveys, geotechnical reports, and utility data while contributing to internal QA/QC processes and design reviews. Participate in the Blueprint early career leadership program covering professional development, business acumen, and project delivery over six months.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- 0–5 years of experience in transportation, roadway, or municipal infrastructure design
- Ability to prepare or assist with design calculations, drawings, cost estimates, and technical documentation
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with ability to work independently as experience grows
Desired Qualifications
- Experience or familiarity with MicroStation/OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Understanding of geometric design principles, drainage, traffic control, and plan development
- EIT/FE preferred; required for Engineer II level
- PE-track candidates strongly preferred at higher level
- Familiarity with DOT, LPA, or municipal design standards is a plus
