Transportation Project Engineer I/II

Job Summary
Design and develop transportation projects including roadways, intersections, pedestrian facilities, and traffic improvements. Prepare engineering drawings, plans, and 3D models using CAD software, and perform calculations for alignments, grading, drainage, and traffic control layouts. Conduct field visits for data collection and surveying coordination, while collaborating with senior engineers to develop design solutions and ensure project quality. Assist with preparation of submittals and bid packages, review technical documents, and contribute to internal QA/QC processes. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with 0–5 years of experience; EIT/FE preferred for Engineer II level. Working primarily in the Greater St. Louis, Chicago, and Louisville metro areas.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- 0–5 years of experience in transportation, roadway, or municipal infrastructure design
- Experience or familiarity with MicroStation/OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Understanding of geometric design principles, drainage, traffic control, and plan development
- Ability to prepare or assist with design calculations, drawings, cost estimates, and technical documentation
- EIT/FE preferred; required for Engineer II level
- PE-track candidates strongly preferred at higher level
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with ability to work independently as experience grows
- Familiarity with DOT, LPA, or municipal design standards is a plus
