Job Summary
The Transportation Program Manager will oversee and coordinate multiple interrelated transportation projects, ensuring alignment with agency objectives, regulatory requirements, and long-range transportation plans. Responsibilities include defining program objectives, developing and managing roadmaps, leading cross-functional teams of project managers and stakeholders, resolving inter-project dependencies, managing scope and change, coordinating finance and grant activities, enforcing quality standards, and mitigating program risks. The role emphasizes relationship-building with transportation authorities and community stakeholders, resource optimization, mentorship of project managers, and adherence to federal/state transportation requirements (FHWA, FTA, NEPA, ADA, MUTCD). Strong leadership, strategic planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and familiarity with tools like Lean Six Sigma, MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Deltek Vision, and related software are required. Requires fifteen years of relevant experience and an engineering/architectural field degree, with professional licensure strongly preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in position-relevant Engineering/ Architectural field (from ABET or NAAB accredited school preferred) Landscape Architecture, or related field of study
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years job-related experience
- Licensure/Certification: PE, RA, PLA, PLS, or other professional licensure in field of expertise strongly preferred
- Advanced MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Deltek Vision, etc.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; capable of independent work and team collaboration
- Ability to interact with clients, vendors, regulatory agencies, and other external sources in a professional manner
- Proficient in public speaking, creating presentations, and delegation
- Must be able to work both independently and as part of a project team
