Job Summary
Research and collect raw data for transportation planning projects, then organize, analyze, and review findings to support further analysis. Perform project analysis using technical guidance and software while developing maps, exhibits, presentation materials, and reports for urban and infrastructure initiatives. Conduct research on issues, policies, and concepts to assist in developing conceptual planning alternatives and preparing environmental documents. Coordinate with inter-disciplinary team members from concept development through project completion and assist in stakeholder and public participation processes. Maintain project records and files while compiling and summarizing census and land use data under direction from experienced staff.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field
- Knowledge of traffic flow theory
- Experience with traffic simulation tools (e.g., Synchro, VISSIM)
- pedestrian simulation experience with Bentley LEGION
- Understands GIS software
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of data analysis skills
- Planning or engineering judgment

- Ability to apply planning strategies utilizing various technologies and tools
- Ability to gather and analyze data
- Ability to assess outcomes
- Ability to develop reporting and visuals
- Ability to effectively communicate findings

- Ability to develop conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation planning projects
- Ability to prepare and production of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents for transportation and infrastructure projects
- Ability to assist in stakeholder and public participation process
- Ability to maintain records, collections and files related to specific projects
- Ability to compile and summarize data (i.e., census data, land use data)
- Ability to review, prepare, and summarize relevant research
- Ability to contribute to reports and assist in material preparation for presentations
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering or related field
- Previous work experience in planning through an internship or prior employment
- EIT or AICP Candidate status
