Job Summary
Lead the Transportation department by championing a safety-first culture, overseeing driver and associate development, and ensuring safe, accurate, and timely outbound shipments. Direct and supervise daily operations, including scheduling shifts, conducting routine safety meetings, and investigating accidents to implement preventative actions. Manage workforce performance through coaching, goal setting, and disciplinary actions while building high-performing teams and driving associate engagement. Monitor production goals, troubleshoot delivery problems, and ensure adherence to DOT regulations and legal requirements. Spend significant time on the road and in trucks with drivers, with 10% travel required for meetings and training.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of experience in transportation/delivery or warehouse distribution
- Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce
- High school diploma or GED
- Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods and procedures
- Strong understanding of DOT requirements
- Ability to interpret financial and operational data
- Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office)
- Must be able to perform physical activities including standing, walking, driving, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing/balancing, stooping/squatting, kneeling, bending, reaching above shoulder, twisting, grasping objects, manipulating objects, and manual dexterity
