Job Summary
Transportation Manager to lead US Foods' Transportation department with a safety-first culture, focusing on people, service, and cost. Responsible for coaching and developing drivers and Transportation associates, ensuring safe, accurate, and timely outbound shipments to customers and distribution centers. Drive performance through policy training, problem resolution, performance discussions, and disciplinary actions when needed. Build high-performing teams through interviewing and hiring, monitor production goals, identify process improvements, ensure DOT compliance, and manage scheduling and workplace safety. Role involves up to 10% travel, working primarily in a transportation/warehouse environment, and promoting a culture aligned with US Foods values.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of experience in transportation/delivery or warehouse distribution
- Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce
- Experience as a driver a plus
- High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred
- Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods and procedures
- Strong leadership, communication and people development skills
- Strong understanding of DOT requirements
- Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements
- Ability to interpret financial and operational data
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
