Job Summary
Coordinate route drivers and supervise approximately 90 associates to ensure safe, legal, and timely freight delivery across the assigned territory. Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to in-store service and delivery while maintaining full compliance with quality assurance and DOT hours of service regulations. Develop annual cost savings initiatives, manage the department's operating budget, and oversee personnel hiring, scheduling, and termination. Monitor fleet utilization, track vehicle status, and hold equipment providers accountable for repairs identified in DVIRs and PMs. Counsel drivers on performance issues using Motive and Ortec data, conduct performance appraisals, and enforce disciplinary actions for HOS violations.
Required Qualifications
- 5-7 years of multi-state transportation management experience in the food distribution industry
- Demonstrated mastery of the Federal Motor Carrier Rules and Regulations
- Knowledgeable of related OSHA standards and regulations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- On Board Computer System Experience required
- Willing and able to work flexible/extended work schedules, as needed
- Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities required
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills required
Desired Qualifications
- BS/BA preferred
- Manhattan Active and SAP experience preferred
- Motive preferred
- Prior experience with routing software, Ortec preferred
- Experience with 3rd-party maintenance vendors
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Class A CDL preferred
