Transportation Manager II

Job Summary
Manage midsize driver teams and oversee freight load assignments to ensure safe, timely service movement while maintaining DOT compliance. Conduct daily operational analysis, monitor fleet profitability, and resolve service exceptions, routing issues, and mechanical problems for drivers and customers. Perform administrative duties including payroll processing, driver counseling, accident reviews, and equipment maintenance coordination. Fill in for absent personnel, lead driver training and safety briefings, and present customer-specific financial reports. Work flexible shifts including nights and weekends to satisfy scheduling demands and maintain continuous coverage.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 2-3 years of experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, and/or equivalent military experience
- Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends
- Strong professional communication skills applied internally and externally
- Proven experience in establishing and maintaining healthy working relationships
- Experience in fostering strong customer relationships via delivery of commitments, open communication, and ongoing feedback/improvement
- Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy
- Accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment
- Experience in Microsoft Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities
- Ability to consistently travel to account and customer locations
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and shifting priorities and directives
- Experience in holding people accountable and conducting difficult conversations
- Ability to perform in a stressful and high-pressure work environment
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field
- 1-2 years of experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, and/or equivalent military experience
