Job Summary
Lead end-to-end transportation and dispatch operations across a high-volume flight schedule, driving on-time performance while meeting strict airline service level agreements. Oversee dispatch planning, routing, and load coordination to ensure accurate and timely flight coverage, acting as the central point of coordination between dispatch, kitchen production, ramp teams, and airline partners. Provide hands-on, real-time leadership on the floor and ramp, managing aircraft catering operations including uplifts, offloads, equipment swaps, and last-minute changes. Troubleshoot and resolve delays, service failures, equipment issues, and staffing gaps in real time, ensuring safe and accurate loading and unloading of catering trucks and aircraft. Monitor key performance metrics, identify trends, and implement sustainable corrective actions to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Lead and develop teams of dispatchers, drivers, supervisors, and ramp staff, while ensuring compliance with TSA, DOT, OSHA, and NY CDL regulations. Partner with airline stakeholders to align on service expectations and operational performance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Transportation, Aviation Management, Business Management, or related field
- 5+ years of leadership experience in transportation, logistics, airline catering, or aviation operations
- Strong experience managing dispatch operations and frontline teams
- Proven ability to lead in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment
- Deep understanding of: Transportation & dispatch logistics
- Deep understanding of: Ramp and airport operations
- Deep understanding of: Fleet and safety compliance
- Hands-on leader with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Experience with CDL compliance, DOT regulations, and safety programs
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proficient computer skills (Particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to work long hours on foot and in environments with varying temperatures
- Flexibility to work different shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays) based on business needs
- All airport-related positions require applicants to successfully complete the mandatory airport security clearance process for their assigned location
- Meeting all TSA and U.S. Customs requirements, as outlined in 49 CFR §1542.209
- Obtaining the appropriate airport-issued identification badge (e.g., SIDA, AOA, or equivalent), in accordance with local airport authority regulations
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Transportation, Aviation Management, Business Management, or related field (preferred)
- Experience in airport and/or union environments (preferred)
