Job Summary
Oversee the maintenance and repair of district buses, vehicles, and transportation equipment; develop and implement a preventative maintenance schedule for the fleet; perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, electrical, air brake, hydraulic systems; ensure compliance with Arkansas safety requirements; coordinate inspections and safety checks; maintain repair records and service history; manage inventory and assist with purchasing; respond to breakdowns and emergencies; assist with driver training and CDL preparations; train prospective bus drivers on pre-trip inspections and vehicle operation; coordinate CDL-related training; drive a bus or district vehicle in emergencies or staffing shortages when needed; support routing, scheduling, and operational needs; maintain a safe shop environment; report to Superintendent or designee.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Arkansas driver’s license
- Ability to obtain a CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements within a timeframe established by the district
- Ability to obtain Arkansas School Bus Inspector Certification if required by the district
- Ability to pass all required background checks and drug screenings
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds
