Job Summary
Transportation Engineering Trainee responsible for preliminary civil/municipal design and CAD support; perform quantity take-offs and prepare specifications and tender packages; conduct field visits during design and construction; coordinate project drawings with designers and project managers; contribute to proposals and cost estimates; ensure project needs are met in a timely, effective manner. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and 1-2 years of relevant experience; proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, InRoads, OpenRoads, and MicroStation; knowledge of Municipal/Provincial standards; strong communication and multi-tasking abilities. Based in London, Hamilton, Brampton, or Markham, ON, Canada, with an annual salary range of $62,000–$82,100.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering
- 1-2 years of relevant experience, preferably with an Ontario consulting engineering firm
- Familiarity with Municipal, Provincial, and Federal Standards
- Experience in preliminary and detailed design drawing preparation for Municipal and MTO transportation infrastructure projects
- Computer software skills including AutoCAD Civil 3D, InRoads, OpenRoads, MicroStation, Word, Excel
- Familiarity with preparing tender documents and specifications packages is an asset
- Familiarity with Environmental Assessment requirements and processes is an asset
- Organized and motivated team player
- Good oral and written communication skills
