Job Summary
Safely transport individuals with developmental disabilities to work, day programs, appointments, and community activities using agency vehicles. Follow assigned routes and schedules while assisting passengers with entering and exiting vehicles and securing wheelchairs and mobility devices. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, maintain accurate transportation records, and communicate effectively with supervisors and program staff. Promote a respectful, welcoming experience for all passengers while meeting DOT requirements and physical demands for lifting up to 50 pounds. Schedule is assigned based on operational needs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to safely operate agency vehicles and meet Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to passenger safety
- Ability to pass a DOT physical examination
- Ability to pass required drug and alcohol screening
- Ability to successfully complete a background check
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist, and assist passengers as needed
- Ability to secure wheelchairs and mobility equipment safely
