Job Summary
Conduct daily vehicle inspections, confirm wheelchair lift and tie-down equipment function, and maintain vehicle cleanliness. Routinely exchange insights with co-workers to ensure best practices for accommodating unique member needs during on- and off-boarding. Assist members with secure fastening and timely transport while delivering information to family members as requested. Maintain current knowledge of state and federal transport laws, develop efficient routes, and oversee safe transport of all members. Supervise drivers by providing job-related training, feedback, and coaching in accordance with standard operating procedures. Comply with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines while managing vehicle records, licensing, and securing company property.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 21 years of age
- Minimum of one year of experience working as a driver
- Valid driver's license
- State/vehicle-specific driver credentials
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to teach and mentor others
- Able to multi-task and manage competing priorities effectively
- Able to push, pull, bend, turn, pivot, transfer and lift up to 50 pounds
- Able to routinely and repeatedly exit and enter the vehicle to assist members with on- and off-boarding
- Able to pass required physical exams including Department of Transportation (DOT) exam
- Successful results of background check
- Successful results of motor vehicle report
- Successful results of drug testing
- Any other state-specific requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word & Excel)
- Working knowledge of GPS/routing software
- Prior experience working with seniors and/or adults with special needs
- Able to work a flexible schedule
- Knowledge of local geographic area
- Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and Passenger Assisted Safety & Sensitivity (PASS)
