Job Summary
Transportation Dispatcher responsibilities include calling substitutes and organizing extra duty assignments for the Transportation Department, posting and assigning field trips, creating route efficiency using the district routing system, handling communications, and maintaining transportation records. The role requires strong interpersonal skills for work with students, parents, and staff; proficiency in reading, math, data entry and report writing; adherence to district policies; and a valid Ohio Class B CDL with SP endorsement and the ability to pass a physical examination. The position supports the district’s transportation operations and daily duties under the supervision of the Transportation Director and applies professional conduct consistent with Mentor Exempted Village Board of Education policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Ohio Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with SP endorsement
- Clean driving record (abstract)
- Pass physical examination
- Proficiency in reading, math, oral and written communications
- Ability to maintain transportation records (driving abstracts, exams, etc.)
- Ability to operate district routing system and perform data entry
- Ability to interact professionally with students, parents, and staff
- Schedule flexibility to meet 5:00am-2:00pm shift and travel requirements
- Compliance with district policies and ADA/OSHA requirements
