Job Summary
Coordinate all transportation services for Johns Hopkins Health System clients and guests, ensuring consistent service delivery and vehicle dispatch aligned with routes and schedules. Manage critical issues and judgment calls when the manager is unavailable, while reporting non-urgent matters with facts and seeking instruction. Maintain detailed schedules, accurate trip logs, and written orders using office equipment and two-way radios. Assist guests with vehicle entry and exit, including the use of wheelchair lifts, and handle sensitive passenger inquiries in compliance with HIPAA and DOT regulations. Operate under pressure to ensure guest confidentiality and safety while adhering to ADA and state transportation standards.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Must complete the Wheelchair Safety Training course provided by Towne Park as applicable
- One to three months related experience and/or training
- Customer service experience preferred
- Must understand ADA as it relates to public transportation
- Must understand methods and techniques of dispatching commercial passenger vehicles
- Must be knowledgeable of Department of Transportation regulations
- Must be knowledgeable of state specific transportation regulations
- Must use dispatching technique with the use of two-way radio systems
- Must know how to use Maps and GPS systems
- Must be able to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages
- Must be able to understand 24 hour and military time systems
- Must be able to read and write in English language
- Must be able to communicate via telephone and/or radio in English
- Must be able to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
- Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests, clients/patients and other associates
- Must be able to assist guests/patients with entering and exiting the vehicle
- Must be able to use specialized equipment such as wheelchair lifts
- Must effectively handle complaints and sensitive passenger inquiries
- Must maintain accuracy and composure while under pressure
- Must maintain a detailed schedule for providing dispatching services
- Must maintain accurate and complete documentation of transportation records for specific site to include complete driver's trip sheet/vehicle log book and deadline forms
- Must create complete written orders for all dispatched vehicles
- Must operate office equipment including two-way radios, computers and supporting word processing, spreadsheets, Tom Tom System, and database application
- Must be able to protect guest confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements
- Must maintain the security of client financial and identifying information
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds of force frequently
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds of force constantly
- Must be able to run; walk; handle or feel objects, tools or controls
- Must have close vision
- Must have distance vision
- Must have color vision
- Must have peripheral vision
- Must have depth perception
- Must have the ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to climb stairs
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Must be available for Monday-Friday 12:30pm-8:30pm
- Must be willing to work outdoors for extended periods of time including up to the entire duration of shift
- Must be willing to work in extreme heat and cold weather
- Must be willing to travel up to 10%
