Job Summary
Transportation Creative Studio Planners turn complex data into compelling visuals. Lead the creative vision for data visualization, maps, final reports, presentations, and community engagement, and mentor junior planners. Collaborate with diverse consultant teams on marketing and project deliverables; develop top-tier visual design for complex projects; share and implement best practices across the Creative Studio; stay current with design trends and inject new ideas into the work. Available at Roseville or Sacramento locations, with a focus on transforming transportation analysis into accessible visuals for clients and the public.
Required Qualifications
- 2-5 years of professional work experience in creative design, ideally within a planning, transportation, or urban design environment.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in transportation, urban and regional planning, or a related major (e.g., geography, landscape architecture, economics)
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
- Portfolio demonstrating visual design capabilities
- Experience with ESRI ArcGIS
- Professional experience in the A/E/C or other consulting industry, urban planning, urban design, transportation planning, or the aptitude to pick it up quickly
- Experience delegating work to and providing input on the work of other designers
- Experience with 3D visualization, data visualization, illustration, UI/UX design, web design, and/or coding
- General business marketing experience
