Job Summary
Coordinate and oversee the routing and scheduling of daily trucking services to maximize payload and productivity while ensuring compliance with laws and codes. Direct drivers and equipment assignments, managing implications from road closures, lateness, or accidents, and communicating with customers regarding daily targets and deviations. Collect and review driver paperwork, oversee spare driver assignments, and survey the trucking program for safety and cost improvements. Confers with shop personnel on repairs and maintenance schedules, and suggests changes to increase efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- 1-3 years of relevant experience
- Strong organizational skills
- Exceptional Problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Needs to be responsible, accountable and dependable
- Demonstrates strong communication skills both verbally and written
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Computer proficiency – Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Ability to quickly learn new software applications
- Strong keyboarding skills
- Demonstrate the ability to provide internal and external Customer Service excellence
- Self-starter
- Solid interpersonal skills
Desired Qualifications
- Preference will be given to those with relevant post-secondary education
- Experience in the transportation industry is an asset
- Being mechanically inclined is an asset
