Job Summary
Oversee the operation of the school transportation program, ensuring safe and efficient transport of pupils to curricular and extracurricular activities. Responsibilities include recruiting, training, and supervising transportation personnel; developing and administering bus routes and schedules; ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and board policy; preparing transportation records and reports; addressing complaints; and staying current on equipment, standards, and requirements related to safe student transportation. Requires valid CDL, excellent driving record, knowledge of state pupil transportation regulations, and residency or eligibility for residency in New Jersey. Salary range $65,000 to $85,000; reports to the School Business Administrator/Superintendent; supervises bus drivers and substitutes.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License
- Excellent driving record
- Minimum school transportation experience as determined by the board
- Knowledge of state laws and regulations governing school bus construction and maintenance, and pupil transportation
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
- Current residency in New Jersey, approved residency waiver or candidate agrees to obtain residency within one year of employment
- Experience with in-house bus routes preferred
