Transportation Construction Inspector

Job Summary
Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations. Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, elevation of structures, fixtures, grades, and pavement. Make field notes and computations while gathering, reviewing, and maintaining project records using PennDOT ECMS and other systems. Witness routine sampling and tests on concrete, soils, and other materials. Perform other related duties as assigned, including extensive bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Work is conducted in the field, potentially outside in heat, cold, wet, or dry conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Active driver's license and reliable motor vehicle
- Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
- High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)
- 1-4 years of Construction Inspection Experience (Transportation preferred)
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction
- NECEPT-Bituminous Field Technician
- PennDOT Concrete Field Technician (ACI Concrete Field Technician is prerequisite)
- CDS NeXtGen and/or ECMS Wave 5
- Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed
- Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions
