Transportation Construction Inspector / Engineering Technician

Job Summary
Perform field inspections to ensure construction aligns with plans, specifications, and applicable standards while monitoring quality, progress, and workmanship. Collect materials samples such as soil, concrete, and asphalt, document testing results, and maintain accurate daily reports, logs, and photo documentation. Identify and communicate non-conformance issues, recommend corrective actions, and ensure compliance with PennDOT, local, and federal requirements. Observe and report jobsite safety concerns, navigate active construction sites, and work outdoors in environments with exposure to dust, noise, fumes, and weather conditions. A B.S. in Engineering or related field is preferred, along with experience in construction inspection or civil engineering. Valid driver's license required; certifications in ACI Field Testing, NICET Highway Construction, or PennDOT Concrete are a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to safely access and navigate active construction sites
- Capable of walking on uneven terrain
Desired Qualifications
- B.S. in Engineering, Science, Environmental or related field preferred
- Experience in construction inspection, civil engineering, or construction management preferred
- Familiarity with roadway, bridge, or heavy civil construction preferred (PennDOT experience preferred)
- Strong attention to detail with solid documentation and communication skills
- Ability to work outdoors in active construction environments
- Certifications are a plus or willingness to obtain: ACI Field Testing Technician, NICET Highway Construction, PennDOT Concrete, NECEPT Asphalt
