Transportation Construction Engineer

Job Summary
Oversee and manage construction activities for transportation infrastructure projects, including roadways and bridges; ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, engineering standards, and safety regulations; coordinate with contractors, inspectors, designers, agencies, and project stakeholders; review construction schedules, cost estimates, pay applications, and change orders; conduct site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety; identify and resolve construction issues and field conditions; maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and records; support project delivery to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality expectations are met.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Experience in transportation construction engineering, construction management, or inspection
- Knowledge of transportation infrastructure standards, construction methods, and materials
- Familiarity with safety regulations and quality control procedures
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively with contractors, agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams
Desired Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
- Experience working on DOT or municipal transportation projects
- Familiarity with construction documentation, pay estimates, and change management
- Proficiency with project management or construction documentation software
