Transportation/Bridge Civil Construction Inspector

Job Summary
Inspect work standards, production, and quality while resolving operational problems and identifying process improvements. Approve incoming, in-process, and finished materials by auditing specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating adjustments or rejection. Obtain samples for asphalt lab testing, perform field inspections, conduct in-place density testing, and input data into the quality database. Requires ACI and ATTI certifications, with experience preferred from the New Mexico or Arizona Department of Transportation. Physical duties include lifting over 50 pounds, walking rough terrain, and exposure to hazardous materials.
Required Qualifications
- GED or HS Diploma
- 5 years of related engineering experience
- ACI Certification
- ATTI Field Certifications
- Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds
- Must be able to walk over rough terrain
- Must be able to climb over 10 feet
- Must be able to be exposed to hazardous materials
- Must be able to be exposed to continuous loud noises
- Must be able to engage in strenuous physical activity
- Must be able to be in proximity to large construction equipment
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Strong written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Desired Qualifications
- TTCP Hot Mix Certification
- TTCP Nuclear Gage Certification
- ATTSA or ACNM Traffic Management Certification
- NICET certification
- SWPPP certification
- Previous inspection experience with the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT)
- Previous inspection experience with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT)
