Job Summary
Direct and coordinate daily transportation activities across the company network by working with Distribution Centers, carriers, and corporate teams to meet service and cost goals. Monitor carrier performance, negotiate contracted rates, and manage service metrics to ensure on-time deliveries and budget adherence. Audit freight accounts for payment accuracy, optimize routes using ERP tools, and lead continuous improvement projects through root cause analysis. Create standard operating procedures, develop new carrier relationships, and provide executive-level reporting to drive cost savings and service reliability. Collaborate with Inventory Management teams on network design and delivery planning for new Distribution Centers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- At least five (5) years of strong hands-on experience in logistics and/or transportation including daily operations
- Experience with parcel shipping and specialized regional courier delivery carriers (co-ops) preferred
- Excellent presentation skills and verbal and written communication skills
- Software experience with ERP systems (such as JD Edwards), vehicle routing and other tools
- Proficient with MS Office (including Access, Excel, Word) and Internet
