Job Summary
Operate a tractor trailer delivering ice to customers and company locations, performing pre/post trip inspections and adhering to federal hours of service and safety regulations. Unload and deliver product using safe, service-oriented methods while producing invoices and managing driver tools including handhelds and pallet jacks. Report accidents and injuries immediately and submit citations within one business day, maintaining high safety standards and following all Standard Operating Procedures. This seasonal, full-time role requires a Class A CDL license, two years of long-haul experience, and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds and move 700–1000 lbs of ice. Drivers may be assigned to specific geographic markets requiring overnight stays. Reddy Ice manufactures and distributes approximately 1.8 million tons of ice annually to a diverse customer base coast to coast.
Required Qualifications
- Must be registered with the U.S. Department of Transportation Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse
- Must have a High School education or GED
- Must have minimum 2 years of long haul (over-the-road) experience
- Must have a minimum of one year experience as a driver in a vehicle similar to which you will be assigned to operate
- Must have a Class A CDL license
- Must possess driving record that meets or exceeds company qualifying standards
- Must have basic math skills
- Must have exceptional customer relations skill
- Must be able to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle in a variety of weather and traffic situations
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pound bags of ice
- Must be able to move up to 700 - 1000 lbs. of ice with assistance of proper equipment
- Must meet physical requirements per US Department of Transportation guidelines
- Must be able to climb in/out of vehicle, including cargo and driver areas
- Must adhere to the Code of Business Ethics
- Must be able to lift 40 pound bags of ice
- Must be able to move 700 - 1000 lbs. of ice with assistance of proper equipment
